Exciting news: Bio-acoustic monitoring project and launch party!
Shropshire Ornithological Society has been chosen as a partner for an exciting bio-acoustic monitoring project in partnership with The River Severn Partnership and Harper Adams University. Venus Pool has been chosen as a site that will be monitored, and we are honoured to also be hosting the launch party!
Bio-acoustic monitoring involves the recording of bird vocalisations to allow species identification, and measure behaviour and abundance in the survey area. It should help us learn a lot about the species at VP and also contribute important information to a larger data set to help build up a bigger picture across Shropshire.
It doesn’t record human voices, so visitors do not need to worry! We won’t hear you getting excited by the kingfishers! We will be monitoring until at least late September in the first instance.

The site will be quite busy during the launch so we would advise that if you are not attending the event that you visit us at a different time. We would also recommend car sharing although we will hopefully be offering slightly more parking than normal for this special event.
