Map a) All tetrads in Shropshire where Lapwing were recorded breeding during the period 2003 to 2007 inclusive. (large dots are breeding records, smaller dots are birds seen in suitable habitat during the breeding season and may have been breeding. Map b) All tetrads in Shropshire where Lapwing were recorded breeding during the period 1985 to 1990 inclusive.

The next two maps below illustrate the decline of the Lapwing in the Upper Onny area Shropshire between 1990 and 2004. The maps are adapted from "Lapwing, Curlew & Other Breeding Birds In The Upper Onny Valley - The Upper Onny Wildlife Group Survey Results 2004".  Click here to see a summary of this Report.

The three sizes of symbols on these maps show confirmed (large), probable (medium) and possible (small) evidence of breeding. The first map is taken from the Atlas map (shown in full above) and the second shows the results of a full survey of the area in 2004.
