Access to Monkmoor Pool Nature Reserve

This reserve has restricted access and a key is required (which will open the gate by the farm, the entrance gate to the reserve and the hide locks). Keys are sometimes  available from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust office in Shrewsbury, opposite the Abbey in Abbey Foregate but ring to check availability (telephone 01743 284280).

A returnable deposit will be required if you borrow a key.

The pool is on the right hand side of the map shown below (to the right of the words "Sewage Works"). The red A road on the left side of the map is the Shrewsbury inner bypass running from Heathgates round to Meole Brace - leave this road at the Underdale island and take the B road to the island at the Police HQ and follow the yellow road in a NE direction. Note that this road is gated (locked gate) at Monkmoor Farm so if you do not have a key  park sensibly on the Industrial Estate and walk down the road past Monkmoor Farm. Follow the road round the fence line to a gate just east of the pool below the embankment to the A49 Bypass (there is no access from the A49).

DO NOT TRESPASS beyond the path to the hide as this site is controlled by Severn Trent Water and access could be refused if we break the rules. Please add your name to the visitors book.
